June 4th, 2023: ICYM Attur had organised *INDOOR SMASH*, deanery level indoor competitions for karkala deanery youth at St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur on June 4th, 2023. The event comprised of 3 events i.e Chess, Carrom and Quiz.

A total of 90 participants from 8 different parishes had participated across these 3 events.Registeration for the competition began around 9.30 AM.

The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Anil Ivan Fernandes, Director at Canara communication centre Mangalore along with Rev. Fr. Alban Dsouza, Rector of St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur. Rev. Fr. Roman Mascarenhas, Spiritual Director at St. Lawrence Basilica, Attur, Parish Council heads Mr. Santosh Dsilva, Mr. Ronald Noronha, Mrs. Benedicta Noronha, ICYM Attur unit president Aaron Dsouza and ICYM Karkala Deanery President Loyd Castelino were also present.

After the inauguration, the events commenced simultaneously. Refreshments and Lunch was provided to all the participants. Quiz(Prelims), Chess and Carrom commenced at 10.30 AM and were completed before lunch. Post-lunch Quiz finals was conducted with Rev. Fr. Anil Ivan Fernandes being the quizmaster. Quiz finals consisted of 12 rounds comprising of various topics like history, current affairs, science and technology, sports and games and the Bible.

After the completion of all the events, the valedictory programme was conducted.
Prize winners were awarded with certificates, medals and trophies.

1st Place - Jason Pinto, Attur
2nd Place - Melan Aranha, Attur

Carrom:
1st Place - Rolson and Shon, Kera
2nd Place - Deral and Vion, Attur

Quiz:
1st Place - Reece and Alson, Kanajar
2nd Place - Ashwal and Ralph, Hirgan
