‟ಕಾರ್ಲದ ದೇವೆರ್‟ ಎಂದು ಅಕ್ಕರೆಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುವ ಬಡವರ ಕಣ್ಮಣಿ, ದೀನ ದಲಿತರ ಉದ್ದಾರಕ ಪವಾಡ.
ಪುರುಷ ಅತ್ತೂರು-ಕಾರ್ಕಳದ ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಇವರ ವಾರ್ಷಿಕ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವವು ಜನವರಿ 25 ಭಾನುವಾರದಿಂದ ಜನವರಿ 30 ಗುರುವಾರದವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವುದು.
ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ಶತಮಾನಗಳ ಇತಿಹಾಸವುಳ್ಳ ಅತ್ತೂರು ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸರ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವು ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಜನತೆಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಪರಿಚಿತ ಯಾತ್ರಿಕ ಕೇಂದ್ರ. ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ಜನರ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವು ಹಾಸುಹೊಕ್ಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಕೇವಲ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಇತರ ಧರ್ಮದವರಿಗೂ ಇದೊಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ, ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯ ತಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗವಂತ ಭಕ್ತರ ಮೇಲೆ ತನ್ನ ಕೃಪಾವರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿಸುವ ಚಿಲುಮೆಯಾಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸರ ಮೂಲಕ ಭಗವಂತನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದ ಯಾರೊಬ್ಬರೂ ನಿರಾಶರಾಗಿ ಬರಿಗೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಭಗವಂತನಿಂದ ತಮ್ಮ ಮನದಾಶೆಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರೂ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತೆ ಮತ್ತೆ ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದೇ ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ವೈಶಿಷ್ಟ್ಯ.
“ನಿನ್ನ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಗುಣಪಡಿಸಿದೆ” ಎಂಬ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗನುಗುಣವಾಗಿ, ವಿಶ್ವಾಸದಿಂದ ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಶೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ ಎಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಅವರ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವೇ ಗುಣಪಡಿಸಲಿದೆ. ಐದು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ನಡೆಯುವ ಈ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವವು ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ದೇವರ ಕೃಪಾವರಗಳ ಧಾರೆಯನ್ನು ಆಸ್ವಾದಿಸುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭವಾದರೆ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಹಲವರಿಗೆ ದೇವರ ಅನಂತ ಒಳಿತಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳನ್ನು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವ ಮಧುರ ಸಮಯವಾಗಲಿದೆ.
ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸರ ಭಕ್ತರಾದ ತಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಈ ಪುಣ್ಯಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿ, ಸಂತ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸರ ಮೂಲಕ ಭಗವಂತನ ಅನಂತ ಕೃಪಾಧಾರೆಯನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮದಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಈ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾರ್ದಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
Come January, the first happy thought after the New Year celebration is the solemn Feast: the Mahotsava or the annual Jatre of St Lawrence in Karkal-Attur.
Last year over 12 Lakhs of devotees visited the Holy Shrine of St Lawrence and paid their homage to the miraculous Statue and hence this year, even though the Feast Days are 27, 28 and 29 January, all arrangements are made for holy and spiritual rituals and prayers from 25 January itself to accommodate even more pilgrims than last year having provided with all necessary infrastructure for smooth movement of devotees to fulfill their vows, prayer and have the dharshan of the miraculous Statue of St Lawrence for favours and blessings.
Hence, I am sure that Lakhs and Lakhs of devotees will also be attracted this year to this age-old, much loved and revered and even sought after Holy Shrine of our District and now this new Diocese.
May the Divine Blessings for good health, peace, family love and unity and prosperity be showered upon all who will flock to this Holy Shrine of St Lawrence in Karkal and may St Lawrence - fondly acclaimed as the Karlada Dever obtain all these and many more blessings for his pilgrims, is my wholehearted wish and prayer.
